Another of the most beautiful beaches near Porto Vecchio, on Corsica’s South-East coast, is in the bay of Rondinara, which is between the towns of Porto Vecchio and Bonifacio.
The Rondinara bay is an almost perfectly circular cove lined with picturesque hillsides, down which a narrow road snakes from the top to a large car park a few hundred metres from the beach.
The first view you get of the bay is from the road high up on the hillside above – and it’s a stunning sight. Tons of cars pulled over in front of us, their drivers and passengers climbing out to photograph the view – and you can’t blame them!
Parking for the whole day was a reasonable 5 Euros – but the car park filled up pretty fast on the busy July day we visited, so get down here early to be sure of finding a space.
The beach itself is just what we’ve come to expect from Corsica now – soft, white sand, clear, warm, blue and turquoise water.
It’s a really wide, spacious beach and there was plenty of space on the sand for us even on what must have been one of the peak days for visitors of the entire year.
At one end is a bar / restaurant with loungers for hire but most of the beach is just wide, open sand lined with pine trees at the back and the most inviting, warm, bright blue water.
There isn’t a bad beach anywhere in this part of Corsica but Rondinara is particularly beautiful. We preferred nearby Santa Giulia for its more tropical feel – but Rondinara is an amazing beach, well worth visiting if you’re staying anywhere near Porto Vecchio or Bonifacio.
